About the 5GMF

Objectives

The objectives of the Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Promotion Forum (5GMF) are to conduct research & development concerning Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Systems and research and study pertaining to standardization thereof, along with acting as a liaison and coordinating with related organizations, collecting information, and promoting education and awareness about Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Systems aimed at the early realization thereof, all with the aim of thereby contributing to the sound development of the use of telecommunications.

Activities

The Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Promotion Forum works to achieve its objectives through participating in the following activities: (1)Engaging in research & development concerning Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Systems, as well as research and study pertaining to standardization thereof; (2)Collecting information on Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Systems and exchange thereof with other organizations; (3)Acting as a liaison and coordinating with related organizations concerning Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Systems; (4)Promoting education and awareness about Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Systems; (5)Any other activities necessary to achieve the objectives of the 5GMF.

Establishment

The Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Promotion Forum was founded on September 30, 2014.

Members

Members of the Fifth Generation Mobile Communications Promotion Forum have agreed with the goals of the Forum and have submitted an application for membership. There are two categories of membership: (1)Ordinary member: A corporation or organization that has paid an annual membership fee of 100,000 Japanese yen; (2)Individual Members: Academics or researchers whose membership has been approved by the Chairman. In addition, the Chairman of the Forum has the authority to seek the participation of those who are deemed necessary to carry out the activities of the Forum as Special Members or Advisor.
