Strategy & Planning Committee

To develop technologies related to 5G systems as well as disseminate information related to the activities of the 5GMF
To liaison, coordinate, exchange information, and cooperate with corresponding organizations in Japan as well as abroad
To coordinate with the other committees of the 5GMF

This committee is engaged in the following activities:

Support other 5GMF committees in making the correct strategic decisions and pursuing effective projects for 5GMF as a whole by collecting and sharing information about domestic and foreign trends
Create a strategic plan for the 5GMF as a whole
Establish relationships and hold joint events with external 5G research organizations in order to discuss and promote the development of 5G through:
- Organizing international workshops with participants invited from around the world
- Holding workshops with participants invited from around the world
- Participating actively in 5G related workshops
- Holding workshops with domestic academic societies to discuss issues related to wireless, networks, and applications
Organize internal presentations and regularly exchange and distribute information to Forum committees to ensure that discrepancies between strategy and results do not occur
Produce white papers jointly with other committees presenting the results of the Forum’s activities and actively distribute them to external organizations
Present the results of the 5GMF and its various committees through publishing white papers and releasing information to a wide audience

To research the conditions, technologies, and frequencies required for 5G mobile.
To liaison, coordinate, exchange information, and cooperate with international standardization organizations as well as other related overseas organizations to discuss technologies related to the establishment of 5G mobile.

The Technical Committee is engaged in the following activities:

Hold close discussions and exchange information with the ARIB Advanced Wireless Communications Study Committee`s 2020 and Beyond AdHoc subcommittee.
Form two subcommittees, called “Strategy and Services” and “Wireless Technology”, to study trends at ICT companies as well the necessary conditions for a 5G mobile radio access network.
- The Strategy and Services subcommittee will research the required capabilities as well as the necessary conditions for prospective frequencies to be used by a 5G mobile network.
- The Wireless Technology subcommittee will research wireless network technologies and related issues concerning the necessary traffic capacity and connection density over mobile broadband frequencies required for a working 5G mobile network system.

To research applications that will use mobile broadband communication networks from 2020 and beyond.

The Service & Application Committee is engaged in the following activities

Visualize the future use scene of 5G mobile.
Research and analyze new applications that will use 5G mobile and how to bring those applications to the market.
Research the necessary technical requirements for 5G mobile applications.
Investigate use case studies for 5G mobile applications.
Discuss institutional issues that may arise due to uses of 5G mobile applications.
Establish two working groups: Application Use Scene and Application Platform.

To research the overall architecture of 5G mobile networks.
To research the conditions and technologies required to build the network infrastructure necessary for 5G mobile.

The Network Architecture Committee is engaged in the following activities.

Work with other committees to establish the technical requirements necessary for the deployment of 5G mobile.
Conduct research into network prerequisites necessary for use in the flexible architecture necessary to build 5G mobile networks.
Report on a wide range of opinions related to 5G mobile through information exchanges with a wide variety of domestic and international organizations.
